Speer Hot-Cor Soft Point Flat Nose bullets are engineered to withstand the punishing impact velocities and high energy levels of big-bore .458-caliber rifles. Unlike standard cup-and-core bullets, the Hot-Cor process involves pouring molten lead directly into the copper jacket, which creates a unified bond that prevents the jacket from peeling away upon impact with heavy muscle or bone. The Flat Nose profile is specifically designed for safety in the tubular magazines common to lever-action rifles like the Marlin 1895, while also being a favorite for .458 SOCOM and .458 Win Mag users. This 350-grain Magnum Tip variant is exceptionally stout, offering the deep penetration and reliable mushrooming required for ethical harvests of North America's largest game, including moose, elk, and bear. Defensive Application These heavy, high-mass hunting bullets are designed for maximum penetration. They present an extreme over-penetration risk in residential environments and are not recommended for home defense.
